I've been using ASAP Utilities for a few years now and I'm really impressed with how powerful and easy to use it is. It has made managing and editing data in Excel much simpler and more efficient. ASAP Utilities is an Excel add-in designed to increase your productivity mostly by automating repetitive tasks. Thus, it saves you the effort of doing the same thing over and over, or requiring various steps to achieve the desired results. As said, it does not work as a separate program; yet, it integrates with Microsoft’s spreadsheet application perfectly. Once the utilities are installed, a new tab or menu entry is added to Excel, depending on your Microsoft Office version.
The list of features it adds to Excel is too long to fit into a short review. Luckily, there is a search box to find a specific utility. Moreover, it is easy to find examples of its usage and there is even a very complete manual to help you find your way. Many of the utilities in the package are intended to deal with format issues. In this regard, you can use them to remove unnecessary characters, count duplicate values, put a border around the page, etc. Likewise, they can help you merge data from multiple worksheets and replace values selectively. The add-in contains multiple efficient ways to deal with formulae, as the one that lets you change a selection even if they are not in contiguous cells. And if you just open the library, you will probably be surprised by the number of additional functions available there. One of them, for example, lets you count the cells that have a specific color within a range. Another function can count how many times a given character appears in a string. Finally, the utilities can also help you work with HTML code, dates, times, objects and comments. It is great to know that you can assign hotkey combinations to your most frequently used utilities.
In general, ASAP Utilities honors its name because it really speeds up many procedures in Microsoft Excel. So much so, that you will find yourself wondering how you could do without it before. Fortunately, the product has an affordable price for enterprise use, and can even be used by students and home users for free.
